Basel World... Easy To Be Chic
A world like no other.........That is Basel World Jewelry Fair in Switzerland.
OMG! For the jewelry lover this is a dream that comes true.
Of course Basel World is mostly known for the debut of all the new watches coming out in the fall. Rolex, Patek Phillippe, Tag Heuer, Hublot, Breitling, on and on and on.
But, if you just walk one building away the watches disappear and you enter a world of the most beautiful jewelry in the world from all over the world.
Every country has its strength, the mechanisms of Germany, the flair of France and the artisans of Italy are beyond.
Showing for fall this is year was simple, concise and classy. Designers seem to be making a statement. Since we all hustle and bustle all day every day, the designers are taking the approach that your senses and the jewelry you wear should radiate calm and clarity. This will be a challenge for someone like me who is true Rock N Roll chic, but I'm giving it a go!
“Less is More" was the motto. We saw paired back designs, a reduced mix of metals and very geometric trends. Designers using an influx of circles, eclipses or curves.
My feeling was the inevitable "day to night" look. Not only could you wear these designs to the office but they take you way into date night dinner and maybe late night clubbing. Take your work jacket off and now you see elegant simple jewelry to accentuate whatever you are wearing. Easy to be chic!
The pieces I was attracted to were luxurious and would lend accent to anything in your wardrobe without distracting from whatever you are wearing. Only compliments! But, once again don't be afraid to be elegant with an edge. It's still your style, what makes your eyes dance! So, it is still not a no, no to wear two or three rings and grab the attention. Needless to say you are your own fashion......Wear it with confidence, you'll never go wrong.
